How the Audition Process Works

2 AUDITION DATES

Melbourne (if you cannot make the formal audition times)

You can audition any time.

We have various classes on the casual class timetable that you can attend to auditition. Give us a call to work out the most suitable class.

Ian Knowles, the Artistic Director, will observe the class that has been confirmed as your audition class. If you have a specialty, you may be asked to show this after the class. (Please bring any equipment you will need to perform your specialty).

Why not audition by DVD

In your DVD audition we really want to see your technique, your strengths and your performance quality.

Here are some details regarding the DVD and what we would like to see:

2 short solos, one which displays your technique and another in your favourite style/genre.
The solos do not need to be long (45 - 60 secs is sufficient).
The solos do not need to be choreographed by you.
If you could also introduce yourself at the beginning - and tell us a little bit about yourself, your history as a dancer, and what you'd like to achieve in your full time year (and beyond) - we'd really appreciate it.

Ian Knowles, the Artistic Director, and the Course Directors, Deb Cantoni and Ariel Bud will observe the DVD on its arrival and will contact you with the outcome of your audition.

3 AUDITION PROCESS

Ian Knowles, the Artistic Director will take a class involving a short warm up, progressions & a routine. If you have a specialty, you may be asked to show this after the class. (Please bring any equipment you will need to perform your specialty).

You will require knee pads for the audition.

Cuts will be made throughout the audition.

4 CALL BACKS

If you are successful in the audition you may be asked to return for a call back audition & interview.

5 SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

Notification of your entry to the course will be via phone call and letter of offer within 2 weeks of the audition date.

6 ACCEPTANCE

Successful applicants will be asked to return their signed letter of offer no later than two weeks after receipt of their acceptance notification. Your place in the course will not be secured until full payment is received.

7 CONFIRMATION

Once full payment is received, we will send you an acceptance letter, timetable & student information pack.
