Andrew Dowton

An enthusiastic urban style hip hop dancer and choreographer, Andrew (aka Drew) is eager to work with aspiring dancers and combine various styles of hip hop including popping, isolation, waving and LA/Urban style choreography to create a unique style of movement.
He started dancing in February 2009, attending regular evening classes with some of Melbourne’s best hip hop choreographers. After a short time, he was invited to dance with one of Melbourne’s finest crews, Beatphonik.
Andrew has not stopped dancing since then, and continues to refine and develop his art by performing regularly (credits include United We Boogie Singapore, Sydney Carnival, 2nd Place at Australian Hip Hop Championships 2010, and Passion Studio’s Usher OMG Girls video shoot, plus many more), consistently attending classes and workshops, and training with his crew on a weekly basis.
Now teaching regular classes in Melbourne, Andrew is sharing his knowledge and flavour with the rest of the dance community – in particular, aspiring dancers who want to learn how to move!
Andrew brings a new flavour to the dance scene. Having moved from a beginner dancer to performer in a short time, his main motivation is helping keen students learn how to dance and have fun at the same time! Come to class and check it out – you’ll learn a unique style, use techniques to help you develop into a competent dancer & performer faster, and most importantly, move and groove and JUST HAVE FUN!!!
