How the Audition Process Works

1. REGISTRATION

2. AUDITION DATES

Wednesday 11th December - we will email you your group audition time.

Melbourne (if you cannot make the formal audition times)

You can audition any time.

We have various classes on the casual class timetable that you can attend to auditition. Give us a call to work out the most suitable class.

One of our Directors, will observe the class that has been confirmed as your audition class. If you have a specialty, you may be asked to show this after the class. (Please bring any equipment you will need to perform your specialty).

Interstate or International Students

Interstate and international students are welcome to audition via video footage.

In your video footage, we really want to see your technique, your strengths and your performance quality.

Here are some details regarding the footage and what we would like to see:

2 short solos, one which displays your technique and another in your favourite style/genre.
The solos do not need to be long (45 - 60 secs is sufficient).
The solos do not need to be choreographed by you.
If you could also introduce yourself at the beginning - and tell us a little bit about yourself, your history as a dancer, and what you'd like to achieve in your F.I.I.T year (and beyond) - we'd really appreciate it.

The Course Directors, Deb Cantoni and Ariel Bud will observe the footage on its arrival and you will be contacted with the outcome of your audition.

3. AUDITION PROCESS

Our F.I.I.T teachers will take a succession of short classes in a variety of genres (usually ballet, contemporary, jazz) involving a short warm up, progressions & a routine. If you have a specialty (eg. another genre), you may be asked to show this after the class. (Please bring any equipment you will need to perform your specialty).

4. SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS

Notification of your entry to the course will be via phone call and letter of offer within 2 weeks of the audition date.

5. ACCEPTANCE

Successful applicants will be asked to return their signed letter of offer no later than two weeks after receipt of their acceptance notification. Your place in the course will not be secured until the deposit is received.

6. CONFIRMATION

Once the deposit and enrolment forms are received, we will send you a confirmation email and a student information pack.
