Dance styles will include: jazz, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, acro, break dancing and musical theatre as well as drama games and activities throughout the day. We also have a performance at the end of each day in our fully equipped Skydeck Theatre to show parents and friends what we have learnt throughout the day!

Important Information:
Food and Drinks
There are 2 breaks each day of the program. A short 15min morning tea and a 45min lunch break.
-
A water bottle is essential. The Space has a water fountain where water bottles can be refilled through out the day.
-
Please make sure your child has enough food for the whole day.
-
If your child has a food allergy, please let one of our teachers know at sign in. Children are not allowed to share food and are fully supervised for each break.
-
Please avoid packing foods that contain nuts as a courtesy to other students.
-
All students enrolled in the School Holiday Program must stay on the premises for the duration of the day and may only leave with a parent or guardian. All breaks are taken in an assigned studio and are fully supervised.
Electronic Devices
At our School Holiday Program, we like to promote a fun, social environment where our students can focus on learning new skills and making new friends. So we ask that electronic devices such as iPads are please left at home. Mobile Phones are permitted but for emergencies only and to contact parents or guardians. We ask that phones be kept in the students bag for the day.
What To Wear
It is recommended all students wear comfortable clothing that is easy to move in such as:
-
Track pants or leggings
-
T Shirts or tank tops
-
Light jackets or jumpers (depending on the season)
-
Closed toed runners or sneakers. Thongs or sandals are not recommended as they can be difficult to dance in.
School Holiday Program students are more than welcome to dress in their favourite dance/party outfit, as long as it is appropriate to dance in and wear for the entire day.
End of Day Performance
At the end of each day, our School Holiday Program students get a chance to perform what they learnt in class that day. All parents, friends and guardians are invited to come along to this mini, informal performance in our fully equipped Skydeck Theatre.
The show starts at 3:30pm sharp and concludes at approximately 4pm.
FAQS
My child has never danced before, can they still participate?
Absolutely! Our School Holiday Programs are about having fun with dance and learning something new. No experience needed!
Can you provide a breakdown of the day?
A timetable for each age group is available on our website: https://www.thespace.com.au/school-holiday-program.
What can I expect of the teacher?
We are very selective in hiring teachers for our School Holiday Program. The lead teachers are generally teachers on our KTY timetable and all have extensive backgrounds in performing arts as well as plenty of experience with teaching kids. The KTY Coordinator will also be present for the
day, supervising the students and running the end of day performance. All of our teachers are required to present a valid Working With Children Check.
Are there other teachers or supervisors?
Yes. As well as our lead teachers, there is an assistant teacher assigned to each age group for the day. This means that there are at least 2 teachers per age group per class at all times. Our assistants are often teachers or assistant teachers from our regular KTY timetable or student teachers who are currently enrolled in our regular KTY classes. Our assistants are also required to present a valid Working With Children Check.
Can another parent pick up my child?
Yes, so long as we have received written or verbal consent from you and a full name and contact number. Please let one of our receptionists know when you sign in at the beginning of the day that your child will be collected by another parent or guardian.
