School Holiday Program FAQs
My child has never danced before, can he/she still participate?
Absolutely! Our school holiday programs are about having fun with dance and learning something new. No experience needed!
What should my child bring on the day?
Please pack a lunch, snacks, and a water bottle.
What should my child wear?
Anything that is comfortable and easy to move in and trainers or dance shoes will be fine. Costumes are welcome for themed programs! What can I expect of the teacher?
We are very selective in hiring teachers for our school holidays program. The lead teachers are generally teachers on our KTY timetable and all have extensive backgrounds in dance/acting/singing as well as plenty of experience with kids. The KTY Coordinator will also be present and supervising along with the teachers. All of our teachers are required to present a valid Working with Children Check.
Are the children supervised by teenage assistants?
We do use teenage assistants for some of our programs but the children are always supervised by an adult. We also use assistants aged 18+ from our full time dance course. Our assistants help the teachers by demonstrating movement, running music, making sure all kids feel included, etc.
Are the activities the same for all age groups?
Each program is different, but we always ensure that all activities are age appropriate.
Do you allow students to leave class to go the bathroom?
Absolutely. We encourage the kids to go to the toilet during breaks but of course they are allowed to go during class if they need to. An assistant will be asked to lead the child to and from the bathroom.
Are the children allowed to leave for lunch?
No. All students enroled in a school holiday program must stay on the premises for lunch. Lunch breaks (and all other breaks) are taken in an assigned area such as the lounge or a studio and are fully supervised by the KTY Coordinator.
Can another parent pick up my child?
Yes, so long as we have received written or verbal conset from you in advance.
