Owner and head trainer of Limber Sports Performance.
Lauren has a vast range of knowledge in the areas of fitness and health having completed both a Bachelor of Health Science and an Honours degree in Exercise and Sports Science at Deakin University. Her passion for sport and exercise arose from her success in Rhythmic Gymnastics which was involved in for 12 years, medalling at state and national level on many occasions.
Originally from SA Lauren dominated the gymnastics rankings year after year as she trained under Russian Coach Asya Talyanska. In 2006 Lauren was accepted into the Victorian High Performance Centre for Rhythmic Gymnastics and relocated to Melbourne. During her gymnastics career she was fortunate enough to train with many professionals from Eastern Europe including former Junior European Champion and Olympic Finalist Valeria Vatkina. Through these coaches Lauren was exposed to wide range of unique training methods for the development of flexibility and strength.
Following many years of dedicated training, Lauren knew that she wanted to work with athletes and pursued tertiary study at Deakin University. She specialised in Exercise Science, Nutrition and Psychology during her undergraduate degree and then went onto , complete an honours year researching the benefits of gymnastics based flexibility and power training for dancers.
Lauren has taught at many gymnastics and dance schools around Adelaide and Melbourne. She developed a Junior Development Squad for gymnasts at Mitcham Rhythmic Gymnastics Club and began a Rhythmic Gymnastics program at St Peters Collegiate Girls School in SA. In Melbourne she taught at Prahran Rhythmic Gymnastics Specialist Centre and was responsible for their talent ID in schools.
For the last few years Lauren’s focus has been assisting other athletes and performers to improve their flexibility, strength and power through gymnastics based cross-training. Lauren has taken flexibility sessions at Centre Stage Performing Arts School, Dance Dynamics and Todd Patrick Studios and conducted workshops for the Victorian State Aerobics Squad and Ice Skating Victoria. Recently Lauren also became a Stott Pilates Certified Matwork teacher and the knowledge obtained from this qualification has proven to be very beneficial for her rehabillitation clients.
Still heavily involved in training herself Lauren undertakes a mix of dance, circus and pilates training each week and performs in cabaret shows around Melbourne. Lauren looks forward to continuing to share her training techniques with other athletes and performers so that they too can reap the benefits.
